Wooter Athlete To Watch: Welterweight Boxer, Danny "Swift" Garcia
/The red. The white. And the blue.
In Philadelphia weeks prior to his marquee match-up against Errol Spence Jr. on FOX Sports PBC Pay-Per-View Saturday, December 5 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Danny Garcia went to work in the gym draped in training day gear that paid homage to both Puerto Rico and his North Philadelphia upbringing.
Tradition. Family. Fighting the good fight.
The collaboration between Danny Garcia and Wooter Apparel showed-off “Swift” at his Philly finest — quick hands, quick feet. Focused. It was a glimpse into the future as the former WBC welterweight champion plans to be all business on fight night against Spence Jr.
Not only is Danny Garcia the latest Wooter Athlete To Watch after racking up a remarkable 36-2 record with his latest coming last January in a unanimous decision victory over southpaw Ivan Redkach from the Ukraine, but Saturday’s nights fight will be a must-see contest with complex storylines. Errol Spence Jr. is undefeated at 26-0 and returns to the ring after a horrific car accident that he endured last year. Add to that, both the WBO and IBF welterweight titles are also on the line. With both fighters boasting the ability to sustain 12 rounds and go the distance, Saturday night should be a memorable night in boxing.
"Camp has been going great. My weight is good and I feel like we're ahead of schedule. Now we're just taking it one day at a time. I'm excited to be in this position to fight for the title again,” Garcia said at the press conference.
"I've been an underdog my whole career. I'm used to playing that role. I just have to go in there and be myself. I have to believe in myself 100% and fight round-by-round. I'm going to show what a true champion is made of.”
