Wooter Athlete To Watch: Welterweight Boxing Contender, Justin DeLoach
Justin DeLoach never forgets where he came from.
In fact it’s right there printed across his chest while showing some love and respect for the Georgia Soul of the WPBA with the jersey collaboration with Wooter Apparel.
The Augusta, Georgia native and welterweight is quick to send a reminder to the entire boxing world that while down south may be his home, the phenom they call “The Chosen One” truly is at peace in any ring he steps into. DeLoach proved as much last weekend at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, as he scored two knockdowns and a first round knockout win over the undefeated Livan Navarro. For DeLoach, a sharp right hand followed up with a left hook resulted in Navarro going down twice and sent a timely reminder just how tough DeLoach (19-4 with 10 knockouts) can be.
Not only did he give Navorro (11-1) his first career loss, but the 6-foot-1 welterweight showcased his in-ring skills for the first time in 21 months after racking up key victories against Dillon Cook, Junior Castillo, and Domonique Dolton in 2016, Christopher Pearson in 2017, suffering a tough loss to Nathaniel Gallimore, and earning a 10-round decision to Jeison Rosario. DeLoach rebounded to beat Michael Ogundo in November 2018, before falling to then unbeaten Terrel Williams in April 2019. Bouncing back with a victory and statement fight was the perfect result to DeLoach’s fight plan.
Could a fight against Minneapolis native, Jamal James, be on the horizon for “The Chosen One”? If Justin DeLoach had it his way, that would be the must-see bout on the next marquee.
